ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the use of school library and academic performance of senior secondary school using selected secondary schools in Andoni Lga Of Rivers State as case study. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of all the teachers of selected secondary schools in Rivers State. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 64 respondents while 50 respondents were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and percentage, while the hypothesis were tested using chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that; the use of school library facilities by students has a positive impact on their academic performance, while the rate at which students use school library facilities in secondary schools is low. So therefore it is recommended that the State Ministry of Education should provide guidelines and regulate modes of operation, procedures and principles of administration and management practices in all school libraries. The government at all levels (federal, state and local) in collaboration with other stakeholders in education, should build modern libraries in public secondary schools in the state and equip them with all necessary library facilities, while private secondary schools should be mandated to do so. And also there should be priority on adequate provision of fund necessary for the provision of current and up to date library information resources. To mention but a few.
